the preorder bonuses

when readers preorder growing up saved before March 2, 2026 they’ll get :

early access to first few chapters of the audiobook - introduction and first two chapters for until March 17th.

digital journal - A guided, low-pressure journal meant to be used alongside Growing Up Saved. It's slow and spacious so you can pause, reflect, and tend to yourself as the book brings up memories, questions, and emotions you may not expect. Rather than pushing for answers or resolution, it focuses on noticing, naming, and making room at your own pace.

book club kit - A trauma-informed book club kit for Growing Up Saved with chapter summaries, discussion questions, and clear guidelines that help groups talk about faith, church experiences, and identity without pressure or debate. But more than discussion questions, it includes conversation norms, creative ideas (nostalgia nights, playlists, journaling), and tools to help groups connect gently around shared faith stories.

signed book plate - I'll send an email out towards book launch and ask for readers to submit their addresses so I can mail them their signed plate.growing up saved

mixtape - A behind the scenes podcast (of sorts) where Kristen reads some of her most fervent christian kid writings as well as talking about the process of writing the book. (also includes my growing up saved playlist - the music of my childhood!)

how to request growing up saved at your local bookstore

call script :

"Hi, my name is ____, and I'm calling about an author who’s releasing a book next month through Tyndale Publishers. I wanted to discuss the possibility of having it available at your bookstore. Could you please direct me to the right person or department responsible for book submissions or author events?"

once you get on the phone with the right person :

"I’m calling to see about the possibility of you carrying a certain book. The author is Kristen LaValley. She has a large online readership and writes about faith, identity, and healing after growing up in high-control or shame-based church environments. Growing Up Saved really resonates with people who still care about faith but are rethinking what they were taught. I’d love to be able to direct local friends and family to purchase it from you. I was wondering if you’d consider carrying the book. It’s called Growing Up Saved and it releases March 3rd through Tyndale. I’m also happy to share the publisher’s sales sheet if that’s helpful.”

sometimes a bookstore will want to see the publisher’s sales sheet. download this and then you can print and bring to the store in person or email it as an attachment.

if you go in person :

1. Ask to talk to the manager on duty

2. Tell them that you're a part of the launch team for Growing Up Saved and then give them the information sheet. This sheet has all the information the bookseller or librarian needs to know about the book itself. Share a little about the book and why you wanted to be on the launch team. This will help the manager/owner understand how this book will benefit their customers/readers.

3. Ask if the store is already planning on having the title in stock

4. Give the bookstore a reason to stock it : “As part of the launch team, our goal is to help spread the word about Even If He Doesn’t. We want to be able to point our friends and family to local stores that will have the book. If we know you’ll carry it, we can direct people to purchase it here.” Share that Kristen has been extremely active in supporting the launch of her book and her social media handles

5. Make sure that, if the bookstore agrees, you ask the best way to tag the store and be sure to follow through and tag them in a post.

6. If the bookstore asks for additional information, let them know that they can find digital copies of the book on NetGalley or Edelweiss for review
