These testimonies I'm sharing with you are powerful and show how using Young Living essential oils have changed our physical and emotional health. In NO WAY are we doctors, and we would never claim to be! Doctors diagnose, treat, and prescribe...but we don’t. So, as LeVar Burton used to say, "But don't take my word for it!" When is doubt, google is your best friend, and always talk to your doctor before making any medical decisions.
O U R S T O R Y :
I'll skip the long story and get straight to why I'm now on the oils train. It came down to two things :
1. oils have changed my family's lives, mostly because they've changed mine. they've been instrumental in my healing process with my emotions, stress management, and mental health.
2. we were in a place where I needed to find a source of income quickly. I already had oils, a friend suggested I start shilling these things, and here we are. I have a long way to go before I'm where I want to be, but I'm starting to make a living doing this thing and i'm having so. much. fun.

You've heard about them and how AMAZING they are, but what even are they? Good question.
Before we get down to the history/science aspect, what I love most about the oils is that they SUPPORT our bodies. They are a natural substance that help keep our bodies doing what they're supposed to do and help us stay well. Essential oil is the “lifeblood” of a plant because the oil protects the plant from disease, provides nutrients and helps to fight off anything it doesn't want. It keeps the plant (or tree, fruit, bark, root, etc.) healthy and functioning at its best! This is what makes an essential oil different from a carrier oil (like coconut oil or grapeseed oil). Carrier oils are just fatty oils, while essential oils circulate through a plant to maintain it's health and function.
They are used to promote health in the body (physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally). They are extremely complex containing hundreds or thousands of different chemical compounds; this is what gives each oil its unique attributes and characteristics. They work on every system in the body on a cellular level to assist in the elimination of toxins, and the fragrance of the oils works on the limbic system.
In short, essential oils :
• Are Immune enhancing
• Support the body’s natural defenses
• Aid in maintaining normal cellular regeneration
• Are mood elevating
• Are high in antioxidants
• Are aromatic
• Are oxygenating
• Boost stamina and energy
• Help you relax
• Help manage stress and frustration
• Improve mental clarity
• Promote overall health, vitality, and longevity

Now that we have discussed what essential oils are, you might be wondering the difference between Young Living Essential Oils and the oils found in your local health food stores. What is sold there I cannot attest to and I want to make it clear that I am ONLY TALKING ABOUT Young Living Essential Oils. If an oil bottle label says “Topical”, “For External Use Only”, “Do not take internally”, or “Do not ingest” then there’s your red flag that it’s been adulterated and is not safe. Understand that if you go out to a garden and pick a peppermint leaf off of the plant, it is safe to eat. If the oil was 100% pure as it says it is, then you should be able to ingest it. Do not be fooled! There IS a difference between a $6 Lavender and a $23.50 Young Living bottle of Lavender.
Young Living completes 8 different tests on EVERY BATCH OF OIL that is made, yet only 30% of oil samples tested are sold. The rest are used on Young Living farms as a natural herbicide.* (Dr. Cole Woolley) Young Living's Seed to Seal process guarantees that from the moment the seed enters the ground, till the moment the oil is sealed in the bottle, the highest standards of planting, harvesting, extraction, and bottling have been applied. This is the only brand I feel comfortable using on my family and recommending to my friends and family.
S A F E T Y F I R S T :
• Use a carrier oil (like olive oil, sweet almond oil, or coconut oil) to dilute your essential oils when applying them to the skin. This isn’t always necessary, but it’s best to start that way if you have sensitive skin! Always dilute for kids.
• Store your oils in a cool, dry place to keep their compounds from altering. FUN FACT: Young Living oils never expire! Just store them properly.
• Keep oils out of your eyes and ears. If they accidentally get where they shouldn’t, use a carrier oil (not water) to rinse it out.
• Always put essential oils in glass (or stainless steel)
• Check the bottle before ingesting to make sure it’s labeled as a “dietary supplement.”
• Know the “hot oils.” Oils like peppermint and wintergreen are considered “hot” which means they have an intense icy hot feeling on your skin.
• They don’t contain protein, so you cannot be allergic to essential oils.
•And of course, we only recommend using Young Living essential oils. It’s the safest out there!

# 1 Topically
This method is highly effective since essential oils can easily pass the lipid membranes of cell walls. The bottom of the feet is a good place to apply – it has many nerve endings + large pores. Remember to test a small area of the skin first when starting out or trying a new oil.
The longer essential oils stay in contact with the skin, the more likely they are to be absorbed. To reduce evaporation and enhance penetration, put socks on after applying!
Carrier oils extend essential oils when applied to a large area (without lessening its effects). Common carrier oils are fractionated coconut oil, grapeseed oil, vitamin E oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, jojoba oil.
***Warning: People will sniff you, and they will like it!
# 2 Aromatically
Diffusing is a perfect way to improve your home, work, or living environment. It can purify the air and neutralize mildew, pet smells, and other odors as well as protect you and your family from harmful things we breathe in the air. It can help with mood regulation!
To directly inhale essential oils, try the following:
• Place 2 drops into the palm of your hand, rub clockwise with your other hand, cup hands together over the nose + mouth and inhale deeply
• Add several drops of an essential oil to a bowl of hot (not boiling) water. Inhale the vapors that rise from the bowl. A towel can be placed over the head and bowl to increase the intensity of the vapors.
• Apply a few drops of essential oil to a cotton ball, tissue, natural-fiber handkerchief, or clay necklace and inhale periodically.
# 3 Ingesting/internal use
This may seem like a new idea to ingest essential oils, but there are thousands of food products that currently use them for aroma and flavor (gum, chocolates, etc.). If you study aromatherapy, you’ll see that people have ingested oils for thousands of years for all sorts of health benefits. We drink oils to support immunity, flavor water or adult beverages, or even add to our cooking + baking! Peppermint brownies! Lavender lemonade! A drop of orange in a cold glass of Blue Moon! Yummmm.
Young Living has an entire line of dietary oils called VITALITY, and the most popular ones are included in the Premium Starter Kit! These Vitality oils are NOT any different from regular oils. The FDA just required all essential oil companies to have a separate label for the ones that can be ingested.

Lovingly known as the gateway oil! It's easily the most popular and recognizable. Lavender has a sweet, floral aroma that is soothing, relaxing and refreshing. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, the uses for this plant are almost endless. Diffuse for a fresh, clean scent and to eliminate odors. Unwind by adding a few drops to a nighttime bath or diffuse for a comforting and calming scent at bedtime.
F r a n k i n c e n s e :
Frankincense has a woodsy aroma and includes the naturally occurring constituent boswellic acid (google the benefits of that). Diffuse for grounding and purpose or use with a carrier oil for massage after activity. When combined with your natural skin care routine, it may help smooth the appearance of healthy looking skin. Rubbing frankincense on your temples and back can improve concentration. I like to add it to the blends I make when I'm feeling stressed or anxious.

I love to use PanAway when my muscles are sore from working out, or joints are aching from sitting too much. It smells wonderful and has a warming sensation when you apply it topically. PanAway is one of those oils that some people need every day, and others need on occasion. Whenever you do need it, it’s awesome to have it handy to relieve those discomforts. Panaway is a unique blend has a stimulating aroma, and is an original combination of Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove, and Peppermint essential oils. This blend is ideal to apply topically after exercise, and supports the appearance of healthy skin coloration. The essential oils in PanAway include naturally occurring constituents methyl salicylate, gamma-curcumene, menthol, and eugenol. Use a carrier oil when applying topically.

Thieves is amazing for supporting the immune system. You can diffuse Thieves, apply it to your feet or take it internally. I make my own DIY cleaner with thieves, vinegarl, and water. This oil is so popular that Young Living has a whole line of Thieves products using the oil blend— household cleaner, toothpaste, mouthwash, hand soap, breath mints and more. Thieves supports the immune system, obviously helps maintain health and has a fantastic spicy scent when diffusing. It helps clean the air without using a chemical-based air freshener.

Purification helps freshen the air and eliminate odors with its unique combination of Citronella, Lemongrass, Lavandin, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Myrtle essential oils. It also includes the naturally occurring compounds cineol, neral, and geranial. Add to a carrier oil for a soothing massage or put a few drops on cotton balls and place throughout vents in house, car and closets to freshen the air. When we had cloth diapers in the home, I'd add a few drops to the cloth diaper load to help get that stinky cloth smell out.

Digize Vitality is one of Young Living's exclusive and proprietary dietary supplements. It contains Ginger, Anise, Fennel, Peppermint, Tarragon, Lemongrass, Patchouli, and Juniper essential oils. It's easily my least favorite smell, but works quickly, and honestly I can't live without it. It's great to use on days when you eat too much, or eat pizza way too late at night and wake up uncomfortable from all that extra grease. You can thank me later for getting digize in your life. Jus sayin.

RC is a unique blend of Cypress, Spruce, and three types of Eucalyptus (E. globulus, E. radiata, and E. citriodora) oils. I use during the winter months and make a chest rub with coconut oil and peppermint. We use it in the diffuser allllll day every day when it's cold and sniffly.

Ahhhh. Copaiba! I could write a whole book about how much copaiba means to me. Ha! Copaiba Vitality is made with the gum resin tapped from the copaiba tree native to Brazil. It's known for its beta-caryophyllene content (marijuana has 35% potency, copaiba has 55% so ..... think about that) and sweet aroma. I add it to panaway and rub it over my muscles after I work out or have had a physically strenuous day. I also use it in all of my blends for worry and stress. It's a magnifier oil, so it increases the properties of whatever oil you blend it with. Obviously the most powerful oil in the box!

Did someone say peppermint brownies? That was me. I said it and they're delicious. Add one drop to a brownie mix and then let me know what you think! You only need a drop because this is on potent oil. Peppermint supports the digestive system and can help promote healthy intestinal function. Tastes great in water too! Pregnant mamas in your first trimester -- get some peppermint in your life.

You are going to LOVE how lemon smells. It's fresh and uplifting and one of my favorites to put in the diffuser in the morning. It puts a little pep in my step and gets things smelling fresh and clean. It can also support healthy skin and you can add it to your water for extra flavor.

Stress Away smells like childhood to me. It's a blend of vanilla, lime, and copaiba. I wear it on my wrists just about every day and take a whiff whenever I need to feel grounded. It can also reduce mental rigidity and restore equilibrium. Also smells great in the diffuser with peppermint. Ya needs some Stress Away in your life. My mom has a high stress job teaching middle schoolers in Harlem and she lives and breathes by Stress Away. Give her a call, she'll tell you all about it.
